Lahore, Jan. 6 : Pakistan's leg spinner Danish Kaneria has said that he is hopeful of making a come back to Pakistan's one day squad.

Kaneria said that the fact the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) now has officials who themselves were international players would help his cause.

"PCB director general Javed Miandad has been a big supporter and he has always guided me in my career," the Daily Times quoted Kaneria, as saying.

Lahore, Jan. 6 : Pakistan's top middle order batsman, Younis Khan, has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to provide better sporting facilities at the domestic arena to uplift the standards of the sport in the country.

Khan said that the PCB should provide better facilities to participating teams in domestic cricket.

"The PCB needs to ensure that the pitches are sporting enough for both batsmen and bowlers and not one-sided," the Nation quoted Khan, as saying.

Lahore, Jan. 6 : Even though the whole world is concerned about terror activities being run from its soil, grave issues like banning dreaded terror outfits seems to be a subject of political brickbating in Pakistan, with the federal government and the provincial government contradicting each other.

Contradicting Information Minister Sherry Rehman's statement on banning the Jud, Punjab government spokesman Pervaiz Rashid has said that the provincial government has already taken concrete steps aimed at putting curbs on Jamaat ud Daawa.

"Federal Minister Sherry Rehman's statement in this connection is not based on facts," the Nation quoted Rashid, as saying.

Lahore, Jan 5 : The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has warned women living in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan against going to the office of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and getting identity cards.

Around 200 women from the region had recently submitted forms for computerised identity cards, which they require to benefit from the Benazir Income Support Programme, BBC Urdu reported.

Lahore, Jan 5 : Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said if any individual belonging to any country is involved in acts of terrorism than that does not make the country a terrorist state.

Commenting on the Mumbai terror attacks, he said, "If a citizen of any country is involved in terrorism, it does not imply that his or her country is a terrorist state."

Rasheed also wants various factions of the Pakistan Muslim League to unite, but says that PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif stands as the biggest hurdle in the way.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Rasheed said there is no power crisis in the country, as "it is only a stunt of the present government".

Lahore, Jan 5: Pakistani pace bowler Mohammad Asif wants a quick resolution to his playing status, which is effectively in limbo after he tested positive for the banned substance nandrolone during the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year.

Asif has appealed against the result, but was suspended by the previous Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) administration from all forms of the game pending the outcome of the IPL inquiry.

That is a status the current administration has not changed, the Daily Times reported.
