Lahore, Feb. 27 : Perturbed by Nawaz Sharif's verbal attack on President Asif Ali Zardari, and Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz's (PML-N) decision to stage nation-wide protests against Sharif's disqualification, Pakistan Information Minister Sherry Rehman has said that such a step will lead to further deteriorate-on the political scenario of the country.

Lahore, Feb. 27 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has said that President Asif Ali Zardari betrayed him and his brother Shahbaz Khan by enforcing a false decision of disqualifying them from contesting elections.

Addressing a public rally for the first time in Sheikhupura, after the Supreme Court's verdict, Sharif said: "We were betrayed not by the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), but by President Zardari."

Lahore, Feb. 26 : The United States has refused to comment on the Pakistan Supreme Court's decision to disqualify former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif form contesting elections, saying it is Pakistan's `internal matter'.

According to The Daily Times, a statement issued by the US State Department said: "The disqualification was an internal matter and Washington would not comment on it."

Lahore, Feb. 26 : Furious over the Supreme Court's decision to disqualify him from being a member of the Parliament, former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has termed the verdict `an edict'.

"This is not a court decision but an edict and the entire nation knows where this edict came from," The Daily Times quoted Sharif, as saying.

Talking to media persons after the apex court's verdict, he accused President Asif Ali Zardari of gambling over the issue.

Lahore, Feb. 25: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has said that he won't demand anything from the government in the next five years if President Asif Ali Zardari reinstates all sacked judges.

"I don't want to become premier or president, but want reinstatement of all sacked judges according to the signed agreement (Murree Accord)," the Daily Times quoted Sharif, as saying.
