Lahore, Feb 23: The Taliban safe havens in Balochistan are the real cause of concern among US officials, as the militant outfit is using Quetta to stir violence in Afghanistan.

There is growing concern among US officials, even as CIA drones pound targets in FATA, about alleged Taliban havens in Balochistan, The New York Times reported.

Taliban operations in Quetta are different from operations in the Tribal Areas and US is intelligence officials are worried that 30,000 more American troops will be of no use unless there is a concerted effort to kill or capture Taliban leaders in Quetta to cut the group's supply lines into Afghanistan.

Lahore, Feb 23: A 13-member Indian delegation, comprising eminent civil society members, journalists, peace and human rights activists, crossed the Wagah border on Sunday in a bid to promote peace and friendship between India and Pakistan.

Lahore, Feb. 22 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has charged former President General Pervez Musharraf of planning to execute him after toppling his government 10 years ago following his Kargil misadventure.

Addressing the Pakistan People's Party- Nawaz (PML-N) general council meeting at his Raiwind residence, Sharif said Musharraf and his associates wanted to hang him after the coup, but judge Rehmat Ali Jaffery refrained from awarding death sentence despite immense pressure.

Lahore, Feb. 22 : Pakistan People's Party leader Qasim Zia has dared the Pakistan Muslim Legue-Nawaz to start legal proceedings against former President Pervez Musharraf for toppling the Nawaz Sharif government in 1999, instead of blaming PPP for taking Musharraf's dictatorial policies forward.

Addressing a press conference, Zia said the PML-N should take the case of General Musharraf to the court of law and get him arrested, adding that the PPP would never hinder such a move.

Lahore, Feb. 22 : After a long denial, Pakistan for the first time has `officially' accepted that the US drones are using airbases present inside its geographical territory.

Pakistan Defense Minister, Ahmad Mukhtar has admitted that the US Predator airplanes operated from Pakistani airbases, but denied that they carried out attacks in the Tribal areas using these launching pads.

"US drones have been allowed to land in Pakistan only for `logistical reasons'," The Dawn quoted Muhktar, as saying.

Mukhtar said that the drone attacks were being carried out from bases in Afghanistan.
