Kathmandu, Feb 3 : Former United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) chief Ian Martin has asked the political parties not to make the recruitments in Nepal Army a matter of contention.

Speaking at the Reporters'' Club here on Monday, Martin said the parties and the government must abide by the peace agreement and resolve their differences through dialogue.

"Nepal's peace process has many challenges ahead and they would augment further if parties fail to settle them amicably," he added.

Kathmandu, Feb 3  Nepal President Dr Ram Baran Yadav today met several experts on promulgation of ordinances.

Dr. Yadav, who has the right of putting an official stamp on the ordinances, met the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) Chairman Bishwakant Mainali, senior advocates Sindhunath Pyakurel, Purna Man Shakya, Shambhu Thapa and Badri Bahadur Karki at his office in Shital Niwas.

Dr. Yadav has intensified consultations in order to settle the ordinance row in an uncontroversial manner.

Kathmandu, Feb 2 : The CPN (Maoist) and the CPN (UML) today agreed to introduce ordinances in a transparent manner based on consensus with other political parties.

At the meeting held in Prime Minister Prachanda ''s residence in Baluwatar this morning it was agreed that the three ordinances in the pipeline would be discussed with other parties to ensure their effective implementation.

Kathmandu, Feb 2 : The Nepal parliamentary team conducting field study on encroached land in various bordering areas of the country has concluded that large tracts of the Nepali land have been encroached upon by India at various points.

A team of Foreign Relations and Human Rights Committee found that the Indian side has encroached Nepali land in Manebhanjyang, Guphapatal, Pulkhola, Phatak, Hile, Chhabise and Simala.

Kathmandu, Jan 31 : A Nepalese doctor, who specialises in high altitude health, has warned a group of cricketers heading to Mount Everest to play a high altitude Twenty20 match not to over-exert themselves.

The highest cricket game on record is scheduled for April 21. A team of 50, including 22 players, will trek for nine days to reach an altitude of 5,000metres for the game.

Kathmandu, Jan 31: Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda has instructed top security officials to take stern measures to curb violence and lawlessness that is growing in Terai districts.

According to Nepalnews, Prachanda summoned the heads of the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Commission here on Friday and gave this directive.

He said he wanted to ensure that the security pledges made by him in his address to the nation should get implemented.
