Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia said that 8 to 9 per cent growth rate is feasible and can be achieved using some concrete and purposeful actions.

Mr. Ahluwalia, while commenting on the forthcoming union budget on July 6, said that the budget will be a popular but growth oriented. However, Mr. Ahluwalia declined to further elaborate the measures taken by Finance Minister in the budget to revive demand across the key economic segments.

Air-conditioned radio cabs will now ensure a comfortable journey in Ludhiana.

The new service was recently flagged off by Punjab's transport minister Master Mohan Lal.

The service can be availed by just dialling 4141414 anytime of the day and within no time a metered taxi will arrive to take you to your destination.

New Delhi, June 22 : Delhi Police on Monday filed a 620-page chargesheet on a local court against five persons who were arrested for alleged connection with the murder of TV journalist Soumya Viswanathan.

The 26-year-old journalist was shot dead in Delhi on September 30, 2008 when she was driving from her Jhandewalan office to her Vasant Kunj residence.

Five persons - Ajay Sethi, Ravi Kapoor, Baljit Malik, Amit Shukla and Ajay Kumar - have also been booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Muenster, Germany  - A 58-year-old German who refused to give up the bedroom he used as a child was jailed Monday for murdering his sister after she called him a "parasite."

The accused had spent most of his life as a university undergraduate, studying dentistry and education for 30 years, but never advancing past intermediate examinations.

German universities charge almost no fees. Stipends or loans are offered for living expenses.
