Navy flags off motorcycle expedition to promote coastal security
Visakhapatnam, Feb 13, : The Indian Navy flagged off a motorcycle expedition on Thursday to promote coastal security awareness among the people here.
The expedition, comprising personnel drawn from the Indian Navy, Andhra Pradesh State Police and the Indian Coast Guard, was flagged off by Rear Admiral Satish Soni.
Apart from senior Flag Officers of the Eastern Naval Command, Superintendent of Police Akun Sabharwal, DIG G. P. Raj and Commodore Sunil Jetly were also present at the ceremony.
The aim of the 16-member expedition was to travel on eight motorcycles all along 974 kilometers coastline of Andhra Pradesh.
The team aims to enhance the synergy between the three security forces and the local populace, driving home the motto of the Expedition.
The district administration of the coastal regions have also pitched in enthusiastically, coordinating village level meetings and interactions with members of the Expedition.
Hero Honda Ltd. is sponsoring the motorcycles and maintenance infrastructure for the mission.
The expedition assumes great significance in the light of the existing security scenario and coming together of the three key players in a great show of solidarity augurs well for the state and sets a worthy example for the others to emulate. (ANI)
