Swine Flu situation has taken turn for worse in Telangana; Centre assures all help

Hyderabad, Jan.22 - Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao has said that the swine flu situation in the state is taking a turn for the worse despite the Center giving all assurances of help to prevent its spread.

Addressing media here last evening, Rao said though all measures to arrest the spread of swine flue are being taken on a war footing and there was no need to panic over the possibility of an H1N1 virus epidemic, there are about 30 persons presently under treatment in various hospitals in the state.

Swine Flu: 173 cases registered in AP, Telangana

Hyderabad, Jan. 21 - Swine flu coordinator for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, K. Subhakar on Wednesday said that in 2015, 173 cases of Swine Flu have been registered in both the states.

"In 2015, 173 cases have been registered of the both states, 169 cases in Telengana and four 4 in Andhra Pradesh. This year seven deaths have been registered in Telengana while few cases are registered in just the symptoms," said Dr. Subhakar, the state coordinator of Swine Flu.

27 swineflu cases detected in Telangana

Hyderabad - As many as 27 people have tested positive for the H1N1 virus in Telangana and are presently undergoing treatment at the Gandhi Hospital here while 35 cases are under observation for suspected influenza.

Dr K Narasimhulu, coordinator for swineflu at Gandhi Hospital, said they have received four fresh cases of swineflu today from various private hospitals.

"Till yesterday, we had 23 patients undergoing treatment in our hospital. We have received four more cases today. At the same time, 35 suspected cases including 10 children are under observation," Narasimhulu said.

Sanofi launches Shan5 paediatric pentavalent vaccine

Hyderabad - Sanofi Pasteur Monday announced the launch of its paediatric pentavalent vaccine Shan5, developed and manufactured by its affiliate Shantha here.

Shantha, a fully integrated biotechnology company involved in R and D, manufacturing and marketing, was acquired by Sanofi Pasteur Holding in 2009.

Shan5 is a fully liquid five-in-one convenient, safe and high quality vaccine that provides effective protection to children from six weeks of age against five diseases - diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Hib and hepatitis B.

The launch of Shan5 vaccine received prequalification status from the World Health Organisation (WHO) in April 2014, a press release from Sanofi said.

ISRO successfully launches IRNSS 1C navigation satellite

Sriharikota, Oct. 16 - Scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today successfully launched their third navigational satellite IRNSS 1C on board ISRO's PSLV C26 rocket from Sriharikota.

The XL version of PSLV took off from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 1.32 a.m. this morning after a 67-hour countdown that commenced on Monday morning.

The launch vehicle successfully placed the 1,425.4 kg satellite in the intended orbit twenety minutes after take off.

The Mission Control Facility at Hassan in Karnataka has taken over the control of the satellite after the launch.

"The entire nation and the government are with the people of Andhra and Vizag. The Andhra government and the central government have worked with perfect coordination over the last five days," Prime Minister Modi told the media after the meeting.

Praising the Indian Metrological Department (IMD), the Prime Minister said, "The weather department has made accurate use of technology. They had given the forecast of cyclone well in advance."

Sun Pharma unit recalls mutiple lots of capsules from US

Sun PharmaHyderabad: Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories , a unit of Sun Pharma, has initiated a recall of multiple lots of Cephalexin capsules from the US market.

According to a notification by the USFDA, the recall of the 3,40,553 units of 500 mg and 1,13,677 units of 250 mg bottles is voluntarily initiated by the company through a letter to the regulator in June under ?Class-II? classification.

Cephalexin is an antibiotic that belongs to the family of medications known as cephalosporins. It is used to treat certain types of bacterial infections.

GMR posts Rs 593-crore consolidated loss for June quarter

gmr infrastructureHyderabad: GMR Infrastructure on Thursday posted a Rs 593-crore loss on a consolidated basis for the quarter ended June 30 as against a net loss of Rs 326 crore in the same period last year, due to higher interest cost, depreciation and scrapping of user development fee by AERA at Hyderabad airport.

In a filing to the stock exchange, the company said its total income (including other income) during the period rose to Rs 2,796 crore from Rs 2,689 crore a year ago.

The company shelled out Rs 832 crore towards finance cost during the quarter against Rs 610 crore in the same quarter last year.

The AP government-owned AP Gas Infrastructure Corporation (APGIC) and state-owned GAIL floated AP Gas Distribution Company (APGDC) have set up a 3.5 million tonnes capacity (expandable up to 10 million tonnes) Floating LNG Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in the East Coast at Kakinada Deepwater Port.

Govt rejects GMR plea to extend ToR validity for hydel project

GMRHyderabad: The Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) under the Ministry of Environment and Forests has turned down a request by the GMR Group to extend the validity for preparing terms of reference for a hydel power project being set up in Arunachal Pradesh.

The EAC while refusing to extend the validity of the terms of reference (ToR) also suggested the company to hold public meeting before August 2014.

"The EAC noted that the extension of the ToR validity is up to August 9, 2014, and there are no convincing reasons to consider the case for extension of the validity of ToR for the project at this stage.

Infotech's net up by 15 percent

Infotech's net up by 15 percentHyderabad, April 24  :  Infotech enterprises, a Hyderabad-based engineering solutions provider, Thursday said its net profit during 2013-14 stood at Rs. 266 crore, an increase of 15 percent over last fiscal.

The annual revenue of the company was Rs. 2,206 crore, a jump of 17.8 percent over the previous year.

Infotech chairman B. V. R. Mohan Reddy told reporters that the firm registered a revenue of Rs. 595 crore in the quarter ended March 31, a growth of 28 percent year-on-year. The net profit during the fourth quarter was at Rs. 70 crore, up 28 percent.
