Sydney  - Hollywood star Nicole Kidman said Tuesday her acting career may be over as her focus shifts to family and a second child with fellow Australian Keith Urban.

"I'm in a place in my life where I've had some great opportunities, but there are many things I want to do besides act," the 41-year-old Oscar winner said. "In terms of my future as an actor, I don't know."

Kidman was speaking to reporters in Sydney prior to the premiere of her latest film, the Baz Luhrmann directed Australia.

"I have no idea what is in my future, but I'm very at peace with where I want to be," said Kidman, who has made her home in Nashville, Tennessee, where Urban has lived and worked for 25 years.

Kidman, who gave birth to the couple's first child, Sunday Rose, in August, has spoken before of retiring when she reached 40.

Speaking to USA Today last week, the former wife of Tom Cruise said she was determined to make her second marriage work.

"We're both willing to move mountains to make it work - and you still touch wood. You commit to it and say 'whatever we can do that's humanly possible, we're going to do.' And that's it. I don't take any of it for granted. To have love again is a beautiful thing," she told the paper

Kidman met Urban in Los Angeles in January 2005 and married him 18 months later in Sydney. She finished the film Australia just in time for the Christmas holidays last year.

Also starring Hugh Jackman, Australia was filmed in remote locations around the country - including Western Australia's Kununurra and Queensland's Bowen. Her most recent film is the fantasy thriller The Golden Compass. (dpa)
