Satyam has not sought any government financial help

Satyam ComputerNew Delhi, Jan 15 : Corporate Affairs Minister Prem Chand Gupta today said the fraud-hit Satyam Computer Services has not sought any financial help from the government as the new board is working on reviving the company.

Talking to reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet here, Gupta said all clients of Satyam are AAA rated and have sufficient receivables.

Cabinet approves plan for ''Investigation of Water Resources Development Schemes''

India FlagNew Delhi, Jan 15 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for continuation of a plan for ''Investigation of Water Resources Development Schemes'' during the XI Plan having an outlay of Rs. 222.80 crore.

The outcome of the scheme will be in the form of detailed project reports of irrigation/multipurpose projects and river links under National Perspective Plan (NPP).

CCEA approves four laning of Cuddapah-Mydukur-Kurnool Highway

National Highway-18New Delhi, Jan 15 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for four laning of Cuddapah-Mydukur-Kurnool section (km 167.750 to km 356.030) of National Highway-18 in Andhra Pradesh.

Under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase III, the project has been given on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (BOT/DBFOT) basis.

The project cost for four laning is estimated as Rs. 1754.12 crore including the cost of Land Acquisition (LA), Rehabilitation & Resettlement (R&R) and pre-construction.

Government rules out bailout package for Satyam

Satyam Computers'New Delhi, Jan 15 : The Government on Thursday ruled out any bailout package for troubled IT company Satyam Computer Services Ltd, but assured to do everything within the framework of its responsibilities to save of the company's employees.

Minister of State for Industry Ashwini Kumar told the reporters here on the sidelines of a Petro-Tech 2009 Conference that the Government is not in favour of a bailout package for Satyam as such, and added that the new board of directors are the ones entitled to take such decisions.

Mumbai investigation is proceeding along the right lines: Chidambaram

P ChidambaramNew Delhi, Jan 15 : Home Minister P. Chidambaram today said that the investigation into the November 26, 2008 terror attack on Mumbai is proceeding along the right lines, and there is no plan to hand over the probe to the National Investigating Agency (NIA).

The above statement came after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) here today.

R V Raju has been appointed as the Director General of the NIA, Chidambaram told the media after the CCEA meeting here.
