Homage to unknown solider marks 61st Indian Army DayNew Delhi, Jan 15 : The Indian Army commemorated its 61st Foundation Day by paying homage to the unknown soldier at the ''Amar Jawan Jyoti'' here on Wednesday.

Chiefs of the three wings of the armed forces, General Deepak Kapoor, Chief of Army staff, Admiral Sureesh Mehta, Navy Chief and Air Chief Marshall Fali Homi Major, Chief of the Air staff, offered floral tributes at the Amar Jawan Jyoti.

The day is being celebrated to commemorate taking over of H. F. Blanford as Imperial Meteorological Reporter on January 15, 1875.

This year, it is being celebrated with a view to promote awareness about new initiatives taken by the Department and to recognize offices and employees who have done excellent work.

Qatar to increase LNG supply to India

Qatar to increase LNG supply to IndiaIndia would get additional quantity of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar in the first six months of 2009. The country is likely to get six cargoes from February this year.

The Oil minister of Qatar, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah said that his country would supply 7.5 million metric tons of gas per year instead of 5mn tons a year, it is currently offering.

BJP urges Central Govt. to clarify Satyam scam

Satyam's New Delhi, Jan 14 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday urged the Central Government to come clean on the Satyam scam issue and tell the people what had exactly happened.

BJP Spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters here that pointing fingers towards would not help.
