Cabinet approves plan for ''Investigation of Water Resources Development Schemes''
New Delhi, Jan 15 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for continuation of a plan for ''Investigation of Water Resources Development Schemes'' during the XI Plan having an outlay of Rs. 222.80 crore.
The outcome of the scheme will be in the form of detailed project reports of irrigation/multipurpose projects and river links under National Perspective Plan (NPP).
For preparation of DPR of any scheme, number of long term studies such as geological, seismological, hydrological, socio-economic and environmental investigation which is essentially required for project implementation / construction is carried out.
DPR establishes the techno-economic viability of the projects. Therefore, investments in the preparation of DPR would result into the optimal development of the water resources/hydropower in the country and creation of irrigation potential, which would increase agricultural production. (ANI)
