Mumbai investigation is proceeding along the right lines: Chidambaram

P ChidambaramNew Delhi, Jan 15 : Home Minister P. Chidambaram today said that the investigation into the November 26, 2008 terror attack on Mumbai is proceeding along the right lines, and there is no plan to hand over the probe to the National Investigating Agency (NIA).

The above statement came after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) here today.

R V Raju has been appointed as the Director General of the NIA, Chidambaram told the media after the CCEA meeting here.

Chidambaram recommended Raju''s name, which was signed by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet, which is headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

An IPS officer of 1975 batch (Jammu and Kashmir Cadre), Raju''s appointment will be in the rank and pay scale of Additional Director General of Police.

The appointment of Raju will be effective from the date he takes over the charge of the post and for a period up to January 31, 2010 or until further orders whichever is earlier. (ANI)
