New Delhi, Apr 1 : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit shook a leg during a function here on Wednesday, held to introduce nominees of Congress party from Delhi for the coming general elections.

Dikshit, who led Congress party to victory in last year''s Assembly polls for the third consecutive term, is hopeful of winning all the seven seats this time.

New Delhi, Apr 1 : Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has written to Chief Ministers of all the states to provide adequate security for nearly two dozen VVIPs during the period of the upcoming general elections.

Chidambaram has urged all the state chiefs to cooperate with security agencies.

The letter has listed out ''dos and don''ts'' to be ensured by the state police and paramilitary forces during their electioneering, official sources said.

New Delhi, Apr 1 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday postponed the hearing on the petition filed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members challenging the institution of an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the disproportionate assets case.

A Bench of Justices Altmas Kabir and H L Dattu delayed the hearing as the judgment of a Constitution Bench on the authenticity of the court ordering CBI probe is awaited in the first week of May.

New Delhi - India's exports fell 21.7 per cent in February to their lowest level in 13 years, owing to lagging demand because of the global recession, the government said Wednesday.

The country's imports also shrank by 23.3 per cent for their second-consecutive fall, the Ministry of Commerce said.

Exports plunged to 11.91 billion dollars in February from 15.22 billion dollars in the corresponding period last year.

The trade deficit this February stood at 4.91 billion dollars, 26.83 per cent lower than in February 2008, the government said.

New Delhi, Apr. 1 : Tibet's spiritual leader-in-exile Dalai Lama has said he has "no regrets" over the way he has dealt with Beijing, even after five decade-long fruitless negotiations with China.

Speaking on the 50th anniversary of his exile to India, the Dalai Lama argued that all his important policy decisions regarding China were correct.

"My major decisions, as time has passed, seem correct. So, no regrets," The Telegraph quoted him, as saying in New Delhi.

New Delhi, Apr 1 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court against his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).

The apex court will hear Varun''s petition on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the BJP has constituted a panel led by its former President M Venkaiah Naidu to assess the situation on the ground and report back to its top leadership on the Varun controversy after his detention under NSA.
