New Delhi, Apr 2 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, which will be celebrated tomorrow.

In his message, Dr. Singh said that Lord Ram is the embodiment of righteousness and high moral values. His philosophy and teachings inspire all of us to rededicate ourselves to cause of the underprivileged with service and sacrifice.

"May the festival usher in happiness, prosperity and well being of all," he added.

New Delhi, Apr 2 : Union Law Minister H. R. Bhardwaj on Thursday slammed Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt for his statement that an aide of a senior minister of the Congress party threatened him.

A day after the Supreme Court ruled that Dutt cannot run for the ensuing general elections, he alleged that a senior Congress leader threatened him for not joining the party.

As per the media reports, the actor pointed the finger of blame at some aide of Bhardwaj.

New Delhi, Apr 2 : The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notices to Uttar Pradesh Government and the Pilibhit District Magistrate seeking to know the basis for invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi.

Chief Justice K. G. Balakrishnan sought an explanation for slapping of the NSA against him.

Varun Gandhi had earlier moved the Supreme Court challenging the UP Government's decision to slap the NSA against him.

New Delhi, Apr 2: The Samajwadi party on Thursday appointed Bollywood actor-turned-politician Sanjay Dutt as its National General Secretary.

Dutt, who was barred from contesting the elections by the Supreme Court because of his conviction under the Arms Act in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, told reporters here today, "Mein dil se kam karoonga aur sach ke liye kam karoonga (I will work with my heart and for the truth).

New Delhi, Apr 2: Former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler was on Thursday given a clean chit by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

De-sealing its final investigation report in a court, the CBI has recommended quashing of FIR against Tytler.

The CBI counsel told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rakesh Pandit that "We have filed the cancellation report in the matter and want to close the investigation."
