Islamabad, Jan. 25 : Worried by the rising extremism in Pakistan's tribal regions, President Asif Ali Zardari has said that every effort would be made to develop the troubled area on the lines of Assam and Alaska, once peace is restored there.

"The tribal areas would be developed on the Assam and Alaska models with public-private partnership for industrialization," the Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying.

Lahore/Islamabad, Jan. 25 : Fridays's twin missile attacks in Pakistan's tribal areas were ordered by US President Barack Obama, the Daily Times reports.

Quoting a report from The Guardian, US commanders had consulted Obama before launching the drone attacks on Waziristan.

"Four days after assuming the presidency, he was consulted by US commanders before they launched the two attacks," the Pakistani daily said..

A blasting knock of 137 runs by opening batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan saw Sri Lanka mauling Pakistan team by 235 runs in the third and the final match of the series. With this win, Sri Lanka also lifted the ODI series by 2-1. This is considered as one of the worst performances by Pakistan against Sri Lanka on its home soil.

Islamabad, Jan 25 : Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik, has received a death threat from a relatively unknown terrorist group, the Dawn reports.

The group, which calls itself the All India Anti-Terrorism Group (AIATG), has warned Malik to leave New Delhi within three days, failing which he would face dire consequences.

"We don't need to make any kind of relation and have no place for any Pakistani in our country," the e-mailed threat said.

The final day-night international against Pakistan on Saturday saw Sri Lanka making 309 for 5 wickets with the help of makeshift opener Tillakaratne Dilshan, who struck a career-best hundred.

Dilshan, who is 32-years-old, impressed the onlookers when he made 132 runs for his second one-day hundred and shared in three important partnerships. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat on a docile Gaddafi Stadium pitch.

Karachi, Jan. 24 : The assassins of the former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto would soon be behind the bars, if Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Hussain Abdullah Haroon is to be believed.

Addressing the members of the Sindh Assembly here, Haroon said: "The nation would hear positive news regarding the probe into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto soon."

He said that top investigators from the UN would be visiting Pakistan in connection with the probe.
