Pakistan charts out new strategy to control violence in Swat

Pakistan MapKarachi, Jan. 24 : Pakistan’s Interior Adviser Rehman Malik has said that the government has come up with a fresh strategy to control the violence in Swat, and added that people of the region would experience better results within a week.

Malik said the security situation in FATA was under control while addressing a press meets at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House on Friday.

“The operation in Swat will be conducted as terrorists have fled from FATA and are now hiding in various villages in the area,” he said.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) continues to be irked with the notes damaged by overwriting, which was alleged to have become a common practice among the locals.

Following people’s habitual scribbling of phone numbers, anti-government slogans and attempts to show political affiliation, SBP had ordered all banks not to accept such notes.

According to the News, Musharraf said that the Al-Qaeda is operating from remote areas in Pakistan, and due to the difficult geographical conditions in the region it is very difficult for the security forces to dismantle the camps.

US drone attacks hampering Pak army initiative: ISPRLahore, Jan. 24: Continuous drone attacks inside its territory by the US led forces are creating problems for the government and also for the army, Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) spokesman Major General Athar Abbas has said.

According to the Daily Times, Maj. Gen. Abbas, in a television interview, said that the Pakistan Army is taking action against the militants in the tribal region, but the US drone attacks were increasing the difficulties of the army in carrying out its offensive against the Taliban.
