Prince Philips succumbs to call of nature at royal shooting party

Prince PhilipsLondon, Nov 3 : Prince Philip, who has a long history of provoking embarrassing moments, found himself in another jiffy after getting caught short on a shooting party.

The 87-year-old royal was leading the party at Sandringham, the Queen’s Norfolk estate, when he undid his trousers and let nature take its course in full public view.

“It was an amazing sight. Those dark glasses didn’t fool anyone and he was caught red-handed with his finger on the trigger,” the Daily Star quoted a passer-by as saying.

“I guess you’ve got to go when you feel the urge – even if you’re a royal.

At the last moment, bosses of the show panicked over whether she was actually up to the job.

When the 22-year-old actress presented the 2006 awards at Earls Court, she botched up all her lines and called Beyonce to the stage while she was still getting her hair done.

Desperate organisers had drafted in Jesse Metcalfe to give her some back up for the all-star show.

However, that didn''t go down well with the ‘Mean Girls’ star and now she''s been replaced at the 11th hour by Denise Richards.

Silver-screen audio trick can smooth jerky videos on cellphones

London, Nov 3 : Researchers suggest that an effect used since the early days of cinema to make the action appear smoother can actually help in improving our perception of jerky videos sent to cellphones.

Earlier, fast music helped to create an illusion of motion in movies that could make the action appear smoother.

The research team led by Salvador Soto Faraco at the University of Barcelona, Spain recruited 15 people and showed them films of flashing discs of light that increased or decreased in size.

When the discs flashed rapidly, they appeared to move forwards or recede.

At lower flash rates, they only appeared to move when accompanied with beeps that increased or decreased in volume, reports New Scientist magazine.

Colin Farrell has lost all memories of his last 10 drunken years

London, November 3 : Colin Farrell, who had earlier confessed that his alcoholic addiction almost killed him, has now revealed he has barely any memories of the last 10 years.

The Irish actor, who lay the blame on drink, drugs and excess partying for his riotous way of life, said that his life was now much better without them, reports the Sun.

“There are probably more moments in my life that I can''t remember than when I can,” British tabloid The Sun quoted him as saying.

“The last ten years are pretty sketchy. But as soon as I gave up certain things and put them to one side in my life then everything became a lot clearer,” the 32-year-old added.

World War I manuals reveal standards expected of Britain’s soldiers

London, Nov 3 : A new book, which is a compilation of First World War manuals, has revealed in extraordinary detail the standards expected of Britain’s soldiers fighting on the front line in the war.

According to a report in the Telegraph, the compilation of officers’ manuals, which have been published for the first time since the end of the conflict, gives a new insight into the daily challenges the men faced as well as the lighter side of army life.

Published to coincide with the 90th anniversary of Armistice Day, the book, “An Officer’s Manual of the Western Front”, also records the levels of hygiene and personal cleanliness required of soldiers.
