Indian businessman eyes an American ''flying'' carRajkot, Jan 27 : Subash Shihora, a businessman from Rajkot might be the first Indian to own the American flying car, a two-seater plane that can be converted into an automobile at the touch of a button.

The flying car ''Terrafugia Transition'' is developed by a Massachusetts-based company.

Terrafugia is expected to go for test flight next month and if everything goes well, it is expected to hit the showrooms in 18 months.

The vehicles would cost about 200,000 dollars.

Untimely rain hits onion prices

GujaratRajkot (Gujrat), Jan. 3 : Unexpected rains have affected Rajkot''s onion crop severely causing a sharp rise in the prices of the product.

Just a month ago, onions were priced at seven rupees per kg. Now it is soared to 22 rupees per kilogram.

Untimely rains have also affected the production of the crop in other parts of Gujrat and Nashik and Maharashtra.

Rajesh Parekh, an onion trader blamed on the excess shortage of onions in various cities for the recent price rise.

Earlier the onion crop demand in the state used to be 5000 kg a day, but it has dropped to 1500 kg.

Gold industry in Rajkot passing through a lean phase

Gujarat MapRajkot, Dec 13 (ANI): The gold industry in Rajkot is passing through a lean phase as most of the orders placed by Mumbai''s traders were cancelled or put on hold after Mumbai militant strikes.

Nearly 50,000 workers are employed in various gold-manufacturing units across the city.

A jewellery trader from Rajkot, Krishnakant Patadia, said that prior to Mumbai terror strike, the market was functioning well and artisans were working from morning till evening, but now they are working only for four to five hours.

Chasing a mammoth target of 388 runs, England were bowled out for 229 runs in 37.4 overs, losing wickets at regular intervals. Only skipper Kevin Pietersen shone with the bat, scoring a 56-ball 63 with seven fours and two sixes. It was his 20th ODI fifty.

Fast bowler Zaheer Khan wrecked the England batting line-up by taking 3/26 off seven overs. He was ably supported by Munaf Patel and R P Singh who took a wicket each.

India, England cricket teams confident of doing well in one-day series

India will look to adapt quickly after completing a 2-0 test series victory over Australia four days ago.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said in Rajkot, where the fist match would be played that players should learn to switch over from the test series mode to one-day series mode.

Crowd cheer as Indian cricket team arrives in Rajkot

BCCIRajkot (Gujarat), Nov 12 :Residents in Rajkot city were delighted to see their favorite Indian cricket players as the team arrived in the city on Wednesday for the first match of one-day series against England.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, batsmen Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag, pacer Zaheer Khan and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh arrived in the

city ahead of the first match of seven-match series to be played on Friday.

Locals in the city gathered outside the hotel where the players are staying to have a glimpse of their favourite players.
