Pak religious parties demand Swat like sharia regulation across NWFPPeshawar, Mar. 23: Following the Pakistan Government’s decision to introduce Sharia-law in Malakand Division, Islamic parties are now demanding implementation of the Swat-like system in other districts of the province and tribal areas.

The NWFP government had agreed upon a deal with Taliban, according to which, the people of Malakand Division would be meted out justice in accordance with Sharia law.

Pakistan, Peshawar BlastPeshawar, Mar 24 : US special representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke has said that Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's Balochistan province, appears to be the Talibans headquarters.

Holbrooke made it clear that "the number one problem" in stabilising Afghanistan were Taliban sanctuaries in western Pakistan, including tribal areas along the Afghan border and cities like Quetta.

Sufi Muhammad warns Swat judges to cease hearings

Peshawar, Mar 17: Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammad (TNSM) chief Sufi Muhammad has warned judges of the Swat lower judiciary to cease their hearings, as sharia courts would start operations in the district from today.

He warned at a press conference that if the judicial officers continued to attend their offices, it would be considered a violation of the peace accord between him and the NWFP Government.

Under the agreement, Sufi said all decisions rendered by lower courts in Swat after February 16 are void, and only the qazi courts are qualified to decide the cases in the district under sharia law, the Daily Times reported.
