Peshawar, Apr 6 : The alleged mastermind of the February 5 suicide attack on an Imam Bargah in Dera Ghazi Khan in which 27 people were killed and over 50 were injured has been arrested by the police.

The mastermind has been identified as one Qari Ismail, The Dawn reported.

Deputy Inspector General Mubarak Athar said the accused has links with a banned sectarian outfit besides having connections with Pakistan Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud.

The police have also recovered sensitive documents and videos from his possession.

Peshawar, Apr 6: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on the Frontier Constabulary camp in Islamabad, and promised that they would carry out two suicide attacks per week unless the United States stops drone attacks in tribal areas.

“We claim responsibility for the Islamabad suicide attack. It was in retaliation for a drone attack in Orakzai,” said TTP commander Hakimullah, Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud’s deputy.

Peshawar, Apr 6 : The girl who was reportedly flogged in Swat has denied the incident, and termed the happening as baseless and not based on facts due to social pressure and Taliban militants' fear.

A team of two high officials comprising Commissioner Malakand Syed Mohammad Javed and a senior judge reportedly visited Kala village situated in the far-off area of tehsil Kabal and recorded the statement of the girl.

Peshawar, Apr. 4 : Talibani kidnappers of Canadian journalist Khadija Abdul Qahaar have issued warnings to kill her, if their demands for ransom are not met by Sunday.

"Until now, not a single official of the Pakistan and Canadian governments has approached us. April 5 is the final deadline," The News quoted North Waziristan based militant organization's statement, as saying

The unknown organization `Gumnam Mujahideen-e-Islam' has twice extended deadlines while demanding two million dollars ransom.

Peshawar, Apr. 4: The videotaped footage showing a teenage girl being whipped by the Taliban wasn''t the only barbaric instance of this sort by the radicals in the recent past.

Last year, the Swat Taliban awarded punishment of public flogging to about 25 men and 50 women, after the Pakistan Government authorized the militant group to hold courts and deliver justice.

Peshawar, Apr. 4: While the whole world has expressed shock over the Taliban’s barbaric act of publicly flogging a teenage girl, the Taliban seems to have no regret over the issue as it has said that in actuality the 17 year old girl should have been probably stoned to death for her ‘crime’.

The Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan, defending its act, said the incident happened nine months ago, and that telecasting the video was a conspiracy to sabotage the peace accord.
