PCB decides to insure cricket events, series

Pakistan Cricket Board LogoLahore, Dec 5 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to insure all of its cricket events and the series to avoid any monetary loss in case of cancellation or postponement of events and series under the present circumstances.

For this, the PCB has reportedly contacted a British insurance company, whose representative, David Borman, told PCB chief operating officer Saleem Altaf and other officials about insurance.

Borman briefed them about the method of insurance through which the monetary loss of the board could be minimized, reports The News.

Pakistan demands Chenab water compensation from India

Lahore, Dec. 5: Pakistan has demanded compensation from India for the latter allegedly stopping the flow of water of the Chenab River.

Pakistan’s Water and Power Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf told journalists after the 32nd Annual Convention of Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers of Pakistan, that New Delhi must compensate Islamabad for the misuse of water flows.

The Daily Times and The News quoted Pervaiz as saying that Pakistan had registered its protest with India at every level, including the offices of the prime minister and the president, and had made it clear to New Delhi that it wanted water in compensation, adding, “We are waiting for India’s reply.”

Former player says Pak-India series ‘crucial’ for Asian cricket

Lahore, Dec. 5 : India should undertake their January-February tour of Pakistan as it is ‘very important’ for the future of cricket in Asia, claims former Pakistan Test cricketer and selector Shahfqat Rana.

Talking to Daily Times here, Rana said both countries should play their forthcoming series to show solidarity and give message to the terrorists that attacked Mumbai last week that such ‘cowardly acts’ cannot scare the people of the region.

He, however, said: “if India refuse to tour Pakistan, then this would hurt not only our relations but also cricket, it would mean that we have given in to terrorists.”

PCB says England’s return to India will be positive for subcontinent

Pakistan Cricket BoardLahore, Dec. 4 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that if the England cricket team resumes its tour of India, it will send out a ‘positive signal for cricket in the subcontinent.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Salim Altaf told reporters here on Wednesday that it would also clear the path for the Indian team’s tour of Pakistan in January and February.

Now, Deccan Mujahideen threatens to attack Indian airports

Lahore, Dec. 4 : The Deccan Mujahideen group that claimed responsibility for last week’s terror attacks in Mumbai, has now threatened to attack the New Delhi, Banglore and Chennai airports between December 3 and 7.

According to a Daily Times report, the threat was given through an e-mail sent from Saudi Arabia and received by Indra Gandhi Airport officials.

Security at all the Indian airports was put on high alert after the e-mail.

Earlier, on November 26, the little known group had claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks that left almost 200 people dead.
