Jet airways to celebrate Onam on Kerala bound flights

Kochi (Kerala), Sept 11 : Jet Airways will celebrate Onam, the popular harvest festival of Kerala on flights, by serving specially prepared Onam Sadya for all its domestic and international passengers travelling on flights out of Kochi and Kozhikode on September 12.

Passengers will be treated to delectable Onam meals such as Kalan (raw banana cubes cooked with curd, coconut paste tempered with curry leaves and south Indian spices), Erussery (raw banana and yam cooked with coconut corrainder paste and pulses), and Ela Ada (rice flour cake spread on banana leaf steamed with banana, jaggery and grated coconut stuffing).

Kochi holds flower show to promote Anthurium

Kerala, KochiKochi, Sep. 10 : A five-day international Anthurium flower show held here recently drew several flower lovers.

Organized by National Horticultural Board and the Kerala department of Agriculture, its objective was to promote the exotic flower''s cultivation for commercial purposes.

Anthurium, one of the most beautiful and exotic flowers mainly used for decoration purposes, attracted huge attention by its elaborate decorations made by experts here.

Onam harbingers a season of festivities in Kerala

Onam harbingers a season of festivities in KeralaKochi, Sep. 3 : Onam, the 10-day harvest festival of Kerala started on Tuesday with Athachamayam, a great pomp and show parade at Tripunithura, the seat of the erstwhile Cochin royalty, near Kochi.

Later, the parade is taken out through the narrow streets with thousands of people watching and participating in the celebrations.

Also known as Athakosham, this festival attracts many tourists from India and abroad to Tripunithuva its highlights being ancient and modern art forms such as folk dances, competitions and other entertainment programs.

Country’s biggest mall to come up in Kochi

Kochi, Aug 28 : The business capital of Kerala, Kochi will soon have an international landmark in the form of the biggest shopping mall to further boost the business and lifestyle growth taking place down south.

The “Lulu International Shopping Mall” has announced the launch of its shopping mall, which according to the company, will be the biggest in India.

To be located at Kochi in Edappally, the project will be spread across more than 17 acres of land with a built up area of 20 lacs sq. ft. The total project investment is Rs. 1200 crores.

Tourists savour Kochi’s colonial style of living

Kerala, KOchiKochi, Aug 7 : Tourists visiting Kochi now have a reason to rejoice, as the city''s old colonial houses are being converted into tourist homes.

Fort Kochi has a number of these old homes that were once inhabited by Jews, Portuguese and Dutch settlers.

Most of these old houses are located on Princess Street, which is one of the oldest in Fort Kochi. The buildings here are all in colonial style, with their peeling pastel, bronze stucco walls and flowerpot-laden windowsills.

Coir Board joined hands with State Bank of India

Kochi, July 28 : The Scheme, which is named as REMOT Scheme (Rejuvenation, Modenisation and Technology Upgradation Scheme) is being implemented by Coir Board with the cooperation of Banks. 

The State Bank of India (SBI) has expressed its willingness to cooperate with Coir Board for the implementation REMOT Scheme and to consider/disbursal of term loan in Kerala as contemplated in the Scheme. 

The benefit of the Scheme accrues to two categories viz -spinning category and household category. 

Any individual, self-help group or a group of persons who want to engage themselves in the coir spinning activity or already in the coir spinning activity are eligible for the benefit under the Scheme.
