Jammu, July 3 : At least 25 people were injured today in separate incidents of violence in Jammu over the revocation of the transfer of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board even as the curfew was imposed in the city on the third day.
Protesters halted trains, set afire vehicles and fought pitched battles with police.
The police arrested 17 BJP leaders, including its former Jammu and Kashmir President Nirmal Singh, on charges of provoking violence.
Five Amarnath pilgrims, returning from Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir, were injured when some unidentified persons stoned their vehicle at Banihal, official sources said.
At least 15 protesters were injured in clashes with police at Bantalab, Tallab Tillo, Gangyal and Nanak Nagar.

Jammu, July 2 : Curfew was imposed in Samba District and Bhaderwah City of Jammu after 27 people were injured in group clashes and 13 people were injured in a grenade attack by militants on a rally today.

Unidentified militants hurled a grenade on 400 Bharatiya Janata Party activists and temple committee members returning to Laxmi Narain mandir in Bhaderwah City after a rally, sources said.

They said 13 people including a CRPF policeman were injured. Four of them who were in critical condition, were admitted to a local hospital.

Srinagar  - More than 50 people were injured - including 13 in a grenade attack by Muslim militants - in India-administered Kashmir on Wednesday during protests by Hindus angry over officials revoking a land transfer to a popular Hindu pilgrimage, police said.

Jammu, a Hindu majority region in the mostly Muslim state, has seen violent protests over the past fortnight, first by Muslims against the land transfer and later by Hindus angry that the order was withdrawn.

Srinagar, July 02 : Normal life resumed in the Kashmir valley today with the revocation of the forest land transfer to the Amarnath shrine board yesterday by the State Cabinet and the separatists calling off their nine days strike.

Normal business activities have resumed and educational institutions have been reopened.

Vehicular traffic and inter-district bus services, which were at a standstill during the agitation, were back on the roads as State and Central Government offices and banks resumed work today.

Jammu, July 2 : A day after the curfew was imposed in Jammu, ten people were injured in separate incidents of clashes with the police in Jammu while protesting against the revocation of the transfer of forest land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

The police fired in the air in Muthi area after baton charge failed to disperse protesters who defied the curfew orders.

Protestors from Muthi, Purkhoo and Naurkhoo areas in Jammu, held rallies and blocked Jammu-Poonch and Jammu-Srinagar highways and demanded action against policemen involved in Tuesday's firing in which three persons were seriously wounded.

Srinagar, Kashmir - At least seven suspected Muslim militants and an Indian army officer were killed in a gun-battle in India-administered Kashmir, officials said Wednesday.
