Srinagar, Aug 28 : People in Srinagar got some respite on Thursday following a relaxation in curfew which provided them with an opportunity to venture outside their homes and stock up on essential commodities.

A one-and-half-hour relaxation in curfew around noon brought relief to people in the city who are forced to stay indoors.

Curfew was imposed in all the ten districts of the Valley on Sunday morning to thwart the proposed march of the separatists to Lal Chowk on Monday.

Srinagar, Kashmir - Security forces ended a 19-hour hostage crisis in India-administered Kashmir Thursday when they killed the last of three suspected Muslim militants who held 10 people hostage, police said.

Three male hostages were killed in a shootout with the rebels, but seven people, including four children, were rescued, Jammu police chief Manohar Singh said.

The Samiti spokesperson said Convenor Leela Karan Sharma has received invitation from the panel, headed by Advisor to J-K Governor S S Bloeria, for fourth round of talks to be held at a Guest House here at 4:30 p. m.

Chinore (Jammu and Kashmir), August 27 : An encounter is on between the militants and the Army in Chinore area of Jammu and Kashmir, after the militants held hostage seven people including four kids and a couple.

The Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir police have been deployed in the area to fight back the terrorists and free the hostages. The Indian Air Force did an aerial surveillance of the area.

Srinagar, Kashmir - Four people, including two civilians and an army officer, were killed Wednesday in India-administered Kashmir by suspected Islamic militants who had infiltrated across the border from Pakistan, police said.

At least six people, including four children, had been taken hostage by a group of three to four militants who were holed up in a house on the outskirts of Jammu city, the winter capital of the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir, said Mohinder Singh, senior superintendent of the Jammu police.
