Younis demands ‘consistency’ from teammatesKarachi, Jan. 28 : After taking over the command from Shoaib Malik , new Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan has asked the members of the national squad to show consistency in their performance.

Khan urged the team members to give their hundred percent on the field and show their real capability.

"Consistency is what this team needs urgently," The News quoted him, as saying.

Shoaib Malik's is in the line of fire after being retained as Pakistan captain in December 2008, for an `indefinite' period, after his team's performance hit rock bottom against Sri Lanka on home soil, The News reported.

Fahim says PPP, PML-Q may ally

Pakistan’s Federal Trade Minister Amin FahimKarachi, Jan. 26 : Pakistan's Federal Trade Minister Amin Fahim has indicated the possibility of an alliance between the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).

"PML-Q is a political reality and an alliance between the PPP and the PML-Q can not be ruled out. We can resolve differences for the larger interest of the people and the nation," Fahim was quoted by the Daily Times as saying.

He also said the results of the meeting between PPP leaders and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would be made public soon.

Benazir-BhuttoKarachi, Jan. 24 : The assassins of the former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto would soon be behind the bars, if Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Hussain Abdullah Haroon is to be believed.

Addressing the members of the Sindh Assembly here, Haroon said: "The nation would hear positive news regarding the probe into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto soon."

He said that top investigators from the UN would be visiting Pakistan in connection with the probe.

Pakistan charts out new strategy to control violence in Swat

Pakistan MapKarachi, Jan. 24 : Pakistan’s Interior Adviser Rehman Malik has said that the government has come up with a fresh strategy to control the violence in Swat, and added that people of the region would experience better results within a week.

Malik said the security situation in FATA was under control while addressing a press meets at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House on Friday.

“The operation in Swat will be conducted as terrorists have fled from FATA and are now hiding in various villages in the area,” he said.
