Younis demands ‘consistency’ from teammates

Younis demands ‘consistency’ from teammatesKarachi, Jan. 28 : After taking over the command from Shoaib Malik , new Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan has asked the members of the national squad to show consistency in their performance.

Khan urged the team members to give their hundred percent on the field and show their real capability.

"Consistency is what this team needs urgently," The News quoted him, as saying.

Khan, who was named captain of the team after Shoaib Malik was sacked by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after Pakistan's humiliating defeat against Sri Lanka by 234 runs in Lahore one day international last week, expressed hope that his team will bounce back in the test series against the islanders.

"Pakistan is perhaps the only team in the world that can come back and win seemingly lost battles," he said, adding, "Each and every player in the side will have to perform his role to achieve that target."

Referring to the famous 1992 World Cup win in Australia, he said: "None of us has forgotten what happened in the 1992 World Cup."

Knowing the fact that he has a daunting task ahead of himself of gelling the team together which has a history of skirmishes among players, Khan made it clear that he would try his best to help Pakistani players curb their mercurial nature.

"I firmly believe that Pakistan has a lot of potential and need a collective effort to realize it," he said. (ANI)
