Jammu/ Samba, Aug 2 : The Army was called last night in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir in order to ensure that no further violent protest takes place in the region. The past few days have witnessed angry protests by Hindus who are demanding transfer of land to the Sri Amarnath Shrine Board.

Meanwhile, curfew was re-imposed in Jammu after two persons were killed yesterday in Samba town as violence continued over the controversial cancellation of forestland allotted to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB).

Srinagar, July 31: Security forces on Thursday unearthed a 1.5 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on Amarnath Yatra route and defused it.

Jammu, July 30 : Jammu continued to observe a shutdown for the seventh consecutive day called by the Shri Amarnath Shrine Samiti against the revocation of State Government’s order to transfer forestland to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

All shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed and traffic was off the roads.

Srinagar, July 30 : The new breeds of poultry birds introduced by the Department of Animal Husbandry Department have boosted the production of eggs and the number of broiler chicken in the Kashmir valley.

Business of poultry birds has witnessed tremendous progress over the last few years. Its credit lies with the Department of Animal Husbandry for introducing new breeds of layers and broilers.

Alongside, the poultry farm owners are also trained in the latest techniques to manage birds. All these progressive steps have consequently helped fabulous increase in the production of eggs as well as broiler birds.

Srinagar, July 30 : In a respite to traders of Jammu and Kashmir, the State Government today ordered amendment of Rule 28 of the State''s Value Added Tax (VAT).

Which will in result extend the date for filing of returns by dealers not exceeding 30 days from the due date in the wake of extraordinary circumstances.

According to an official spokesman, the government has decided to extend the date of filing of returns by the dealers for the first quarter of the year 2008-09 by a period of
30 days.
