Jammu/New Delhi/Srinagar, Aug 8 : Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra has said he is ready for talks to quell weeks of protest over the Amarnath land transfer row.

"We have come to know that the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti members have convened a meeting for the upcoming talks. We are ready and whenever they want, we will send our committee for the talks," he said last evening.

The struggle committee also extended an olive branch, saying its doors were always open for talks.

New Delhi, Aug 6 : India today said that the reported resolution on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan senate amounts to gross interference in our internal affairs.

New Delhi/ Jammu, Aug 7 : The BJP''s Core Committee on Thursday decided to go ahead with a three-day agitation on the Amarnath land transfer issue from August
11.

Making it clear that they would settle for nothing less than the re-allotment of land to the Amarnath Shrine Board, the BJP accused the Centre of failing to broker peace over the Amarnath land row issue.

New Delhi, Aug 7 : “The decision to divert the land Amarnath Yatra was not my own,” said former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Lt Gen S K Sinha, in an interview to a private television channel.

When asked about his role on the Amarnath land transfer controversy, Lt. Gen. Sinha said: "There is a tremendous amount of misinformation. People do not know facts and have been making totally false allegations. I did not take the decision to divert land for Amarnath Yatra. The decision was taken by the State Government."

Lt. Gen. Sinha blamed the People''s Democratic Party for the ongoing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu, Aug 7 : Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra last night appointed a four-member committee for holding talks with the Shri Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti 
(SASS) to find a solution for the ongoing Amarnath land transfer row.

The committee comprising former state chief secretary SS Bloeria, Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University Amitabh Mattoo, retired Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice GD Sharma, and Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) BB Vyas will make a fresh appeal to the agitating group to end the stalemate.

Earlier, the Sangarsh Samiti had refused the proposal of Vohra to hold direct talks with the shrine board.
