Islamabad, Dec. 9 : Pakistan will have to measure its capacity to withstand the prospect of a multi-pronged conflict raging both within and without in the wake of last month’s terror attacks in Mumbai.

Islamabad, Dec. 9 : Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said even if allegations are proved against any so-called terrorist suspect, he or she will not be handed over to India.

"We are not oblivious to our responsibilities to defend our homeland. But it is our desire that there should be no war. Pakistan will not hand India any of the Lashkar-e-Taiba militants arrested on Sunday for they’re suspected role in the Mumbai terrorist attacks, but will try them under its own laws.”

Islamabad, Dec. 9: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the menace of terrorism is affecting his country as much as India, and added that it would be a futile exercise to pin the blame just on Pakistan.

Islamabad, Dec. 9 : The Pakistan army confirmed late on Monday it has begun an operation against banned organizations in the wake of the attacks in Mumbai last month, but did not name any organizations.

“There have been arrests and investigations are ongoing,” the Daily Times quoted a statement released by the ISPR, as saying.

The ISPR said that further details of the operations would be released once preliminary investigations had been completed.

Islamabad, Dec. 9 : Authorities in Pakistan are refusing to confirm or deny the arrest of Lashkar commander and Mumbai terror attack mastermind Zaki ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

A senior Pakistani security official first said that Lakhvi, an operational commander for Lashkar, was among the dozen Jamaat-ud-Dawa activists arrested, but later backed away from the assertion.
