JuD’s charity veneer made possible due to Pak Govt’s failure

Islamabad, Dec. 18: The newly banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) has succeeded in drumming up some support among the local community due to the failure of the Pakistan Government to meet the basic amenities of the people.

According to a commentary in the News, the government run schools are inadequate for the needs of a large community, there by allowing terror groups like Jamaat-ud-Daawa to mask their true identity by showing their humanitarian face.

JuD and others like it have been able to move deep into society by engaging in all kinds of well-run charitable activity and thus creating the perfect platform to sway the minds of people towards their ideological philosophy.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood QureishiIslamabad, Dec. 18 : Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureishi has said that future of Pakistan demands good neighbourly relations with India, and that it was his responsibility to do so.

Taking the responsibility of building stronger ties between the two nations, Qureishi said that the Mumbai attack has hampered the neighbourly relation with India, but it will improve soon.

India should provide evidence through diplomatic channels, not media: Qureshi

Makhdoom Shah Mehmood QureshIslamabad, Dec. 17 : Pakistan Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has urged India to stop relaying evidence about the Mumbai terror attacks through the media, and give it through diplomatic channels.

Addressing a joint press conference at the Foreign Office here, following bilateral talks with the Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, Qureshi said: "Pakistan needs detail evidence through diplomatic channels instead of media."

PCB still waiting for Indian tour confirmation

PCBIslamabad, Dec. 17 : The Pakistan Cricket Board is still awaiting confirmation of India's tour next month, but has denied reports of a replacement series against Sri Lanka.

"We are still waiting for the response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India," PCB chief operating officer Saleem Altaf told The News on Tuesday.

The BCCI has sought clearance from its government for the tour of Pakistan, encompassing three Tests, five one-dayers and a Twenty20 match.

US asks Pak to continue assisting India to investigate Mumbai attacks

Ajmal Amir Kasab, PakistanIslamabad, Dec 17 : The United States has asked Pakistan to continue providing all necessary cooperation to investigate the Mumbai terror attacks.

State Department spokesman Robert Wood said: Pakistan should continue to "provide all the co-operation necessary with regards to Mumbai investigation."

Wood said The United Sates wanted continued dialogue between India and Pakistan to promote regional stability and urged the nuclear-armed neighbours to ease tensions following the Mumbai attacks through co-operative efforts.

Sweden urges Pakistan to crack down on Mumbai suspects

Sweden FlagIslamabad - Sweden joined Britain and the United States in urging Pakistan Wednesday to act against terror suspects behind the November 26 Mumbai attacks which killed more than 170 people.

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said "effective and active" cooperative measures were needed to be taken by individual states to clamp down on terrorists operating across the borders.

"And this is of course particularly important to say after the Mumbai attack which obviously had its bases on Pakistani soil," Bildt said at a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart, Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
