Indian minister's son charged with raping German girl

Goa police New Delhi  - The son of an Indian politician was Tuesday charged with raping a 14-year-old German girl in the country's south-western state of Goa, news reports said.

Rohit Monserrate, 21, son of Goa education minister Atanasio Monserrate, was also booked by the state police under various provisions of the Indian penal code relating to obscenity, the CNN-IBN news channel reported.

A police team had reached the minister's bungalow to arrest the accused, the report said, adding the case had caused a furore in the state.

Dasmunsi stable, but still on respiratory support

Priya Ranjan DasmunshiNew Delhi, Oct. 14 : Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi was on Tuesday described as being in a stable condition but still on respiratory support after suffering a heart attack on Monday morning.

"He is stable but in a serious condition. He requires respiratory support," AIIMS Medical Superintendent D K Sharma said.

Dasmunsi was rushed to the hospital at around 2.30 a. m. on Monday after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by heart failure, Sharma said. He was put on a ventilator.

This was his second heart attack in three months.

Pak NSA says ISI played no role in Kabul embassy bombing
