British woman returns ancient statues to Egypt Cairo - A British citizen has handed in several small statues believed to be antiquities to Egyptian cultural authorities in London, expressing a wish that they be returned to their homeland, a news report said on Thursday.

"I received an email from a British woman called Rebecca Robinson saying she had several ancient Egyptian statues that she wanted to return to Egypt," Maysa Nasr Farid, the Egyptian cultural attache in London told Egypt's official Middle East News Agency (MENA).

London, Oct. 15 : An Egyptian al-Qaeda suspect and his family have won permission to live in Britain — and claim hundreds in benefits a month.

According to The Sun, the British Government has granted Hany Youssef “discretionary leave to remain”, even as the Home Office admits he is on a UN list of people “belonging to or linked” to the terror group.

The decision means he can stay in Britain with his wife and five kids up to 2011. He is also free to claim housing benefit, child tax credits and Jobseekers’ Allowance.

They have already been living in a house in Hammersmith, West London, at taxpayers’ expense.

Geagea, Mubarak discuss solutions for Israeli-occupied Shebaa Farms

Egyptian police detain 31 Muslim Brotherhood members Cairo- Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak has suggested two solutions to the issue of the Israeli-occupied Shebaa Farms on the Lebanese border, Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said Tuesday.

Speaking after a meeting in Cairo with Mubarak, he said: "The first suggestion is using Egypt's international relations, especially with the US, to put pressure on Israel to withdraw from the Shebaa Farms."

Egyptian police kill illegal migrant on Israeli-Egyptian border

Cairo - Egyptian police on Tuesday shot dead an Eritrean migrant attempting to enter Israel illegally via Egypt's Rafah border crossing, security sources said.

Police killed Khasoum Tasfa, 40, and injured Barham Majin, also from Eritrea. The two men had attempted to cross the border at Rafah on the 250-kilometre Egyptian-Israeli frontier.

Since of the beginning of 2008, Egyptian police have arrested some 480 illegal immigrants. Eritreans make up the largest group, with 210 arrested, and Sudanese the second-largest, with 121 arrested. At least 36 women and seven children have also been detained.
