Hamas vows to work hard for the success of national dialogue Cairo - Palestinian Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar said on Tuesday that his group will do everything it can to ensure the success of the Palestinian national dialogue to be held in Cairo on November 7-9.

"We will work hard to ensure the success of the dialogue and the reconciliation," Zahar said when he arrived in Cairo from Damascus late Tuesday.

Suzane TamimCairo - Egypt's criminal court postponed on Saturday a hearing in the murder charges against business tycoon and lawmaker Hisham Talaat Moustafa to mid-November to allow for further investigations into the case.

Moustafa is accused in the murder of Lebanese singer Suzane Tamim.

A former chairman of Egypt's largest publicly traded real estate company and a member of the Shura Council, the upper house of parliament, Moustafa was arrested on September 2 and charged with ordering and paying for the killing.

‘Mecca’ of ancient Egypt to be renovated

MeccaWashington, Oct 17 : An archaeological site, which is considered as the Mecca of ancient Egypt, is being renovated by a government-run project.

According to a report in National Geographic News, a development boom near Egypt’s Abydos archaeological site is damaging one of the most sacred gathering places for ancient pilgrims.

Millions of Egyptians crossed the desert surrounding Abydos from 664 B. C. to A. D. 395 to pay homage to the god of the dead, Osiris. Many of Egypt’s earliest pharaohs were buried at the site.

The temples and tombs are also home to the earliest known Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Egypt opens Rafah crossing to allow patients into Gaza Cairo - Egyptian authorities made an exception late Thursday and opened the Rafah crossing to allow Palestinian patients coming from Egyptian hospitals to cross the border into the Gaza strip, according to sources.

A source at the crossing told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that "32 Palestinian patients and their attendants crossed the Rafah border Thursday evening."
