Consolidated Construction pockets order worth Rs 1212 croreConsolidated Construction Consortium Ltd (CCCL), a Chennai-based company specializing in the building and factory segment of the construction industry, has won an order worth Rs 1,212 crore order from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the expansion of Chennai Airport Terminal.

The project has been awarded mainly for the development of Kamaraj Domestic Terminal (74,527sq metres) Phase II, expansion of existing Anna International Terminal (65,000 sq metres).

Elecon Engineering secures three orders worth Rs 51.74 croreIndia’s leading material handling equipments maker Elecon Engineering Company Ltd, has secured three orders worth Rs 51.74 crore from different clients. 

The scope of work involves design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supplying, erecting and commissioning of material handling and other equipments. 
 
The company has picked first contract worth Rs 15.50 crore from Techpro Systems, Chennai. Under the arrangement it will supply one stacker, one bucket wheel reclaimer and one lot drives for SAIL-RMD-BOLANI Iron Ore mines project.

CVRDE to develop unmanned infantry combat vehicleChennai, Sept 28 : The Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) at Avadi near Chennai has started developing unmanned infantry combat vehicle for carrying troops as a precursor to developing unmanned Future Main Battle Tank (FMBT) by 2020. 

This information was given by CVRDE Director S Sundaresh on Saturday evening on the sidelines of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India Students Convention, organised by the SRM University at its campus in suburban Kattankulathur, in Avadi.

Ban on smoking in public private places to come to effect from Oct. 2

Anbumani RamadossChennai, Sept 27 : Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday said that the ban on smoking in public private places will come to effect from October 2nd and the penalty charge will be rupees two hundred at the initial stage.

He was participating in a Conference on International Study about Human Rights and Mental Health organised by the Department of Social Work Studies at Madras Christian College in Chennai, Principal Dr. V. J. Philip, staff of the department and students took part in this conference.

Terror threat to temples in Tamil Nadu

Tamil NaduChennai, Sept 25 : Security has been stepped up in five major temples in Tamil Nadu following an intelligence alert of terror attacks.

The Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, the Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, the Murugan temple in Palani, the Kapaleeswarar Temple in Chennai and Sri Ranganathar Temple in Srirangam in Tiruchirappalli have come under a heightened security.

Besides these temples, commercial hubs in Chennai and elsewhere have also been placed under surveillance.
