Mercedes moving headquarters from New Jersey to Atlanta

Haddonfield/Atlanta - German luxury automobile maker Mercedes-Benz has said that it's moving its US headquarters from New Jersey to Atlanta, in part to be closer to its manufacturing facility in Alabama.

Georgia Gov Nathan Deal said yesterday the company accepted an incentive package from the state but said he couldn't discuss the details yet.

The Fulton County Development Authority met briefly yesterday to discuss its own incentive package for Mercedes' estimated USD 93 million facility but provided no details.

Zoo tests a gorilla's blood pressure for the first time

gorillaWashington, Nov 11 : Zoo Atlanta conducted the world's first ever blood pressure (BP) test on Ozzie, a 150-kg 48-year-old male gorilla.

This breakthrough was made possible by the Gorilla Tough Cuff, a BP reading system devised in partnership with the bio-medical engineering department at Georgia Tech and Emory University.

Ozzie's accomplishment is the result of months of patience and diligent voluntary positive reinforcement training on the part of Zoo Atlanta's Primate Team.

The world’s leading beverage maker said that in the quarter ending July 3, it earnings of $2.04 billion - or 88 cents per share – were up from its last year earnings of $1.42 billion, or 61 cents per share.  

Presence of neo-Nazis once again haunts US military

Atlanta, July 13 : The latest revelation on the appearance of at least 40 active-duty US soldiers on a neo-Nazi social networking website has confirmed the controversial government report released in April about the growing presence of white supremacy in the military.

According to the disclosure by the Southern Poverty Law Center, there were at least 40 profiles related to active-duty military members on NewSaxon. org, known as the "fascist Facebook," csmonitor. com reports.

"I love and will do anything to keep our master race marching," writes "WhitePride85," who claims on the site to be a 24-year-old staff sergeant from Madison, Wis.

With 96 percent of the votes counted, Chambliss led Martin 58 percent to 42 percent, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The two former fraternity brothers faced off in the runoff after neither received a majority in the Nov. 4 general election.

Perry, WGAW agree on new contract

, Nov. 27  -- Tyler Perry Studios and the Writers Guild of America West say they have agreed on a new contract after more than five months of negotiations.

Vic Bulluck, executive director of the NAACP Hollywood Bureau, was instrumental in bringing the two parties together, WGAW said in a posting on its Web site.

IBS Software acquires 66% stake in Atlanta-based firm

IBS Software, a leading provider of IT solutions to the global travel, transportation and logistics industry, has acquired a majority stake in Atlanta-based Hotel Booking Solutions Inc (HBSi).

The company has picked up 66% stake in HBSi in a completely cash-and-earn-out deal.

HBSi is a leading provider of IT solutions to the hospital industry. The company provides a platform that connects hotel companies and distribution partners, enabling them to exchange various data instantaneously in a controlled environment.
