NBA: Atlanta 98, New York 95
ATLANTA, Dec. 5 -- Joe Johnson's jump shot gave Atlanta a three-point lead with 1:32 to play Friday and the Hawks held on to defeat New York 98-95.
Neither side managed to score after Johnson's field goal. Atlanta won its third straight game -- and its sixth in eight games.
Johnson scored 17 points and had seven assists. Josh Smith added 16 for the Hawks and Al Horford had 14.
New York, losers of three straight and five out of six, got 27 points from Al Harrington. He missed a three-point attempt with 55 seconds to play.
The Knicks' final possession began with 5.7 seconds remaining, but they could not get off a shot before the buzzer.
Atlanta began the fourth period with a 10-3 run that gave the Hawks a 10-point lead. (UPI)
