Fencing Bangladesh border displaces people

Agartala, Dec 19 : Hundreds of people displaced due to border fencing took to the streets in Tripura demanding rehabilitation.

However, opposition Congress which under the banner of ''Tripura Simanta Bhumi Suraksa Committee'' (Tripura Border Land Protection Committee) organised the rally claiming that the people in the border area are not being rehabilitated due to the State Governments, apathetic attitude.

Shah Alam, a protestor demanded compensation and rehabilitation from the government and believes that no one is against the border fencing.

Tripura capital hosts conference on community-based disaster risk reductionAgartala (Tripura), Dec. 14 : Tripura capital Agartala recently played host to a two-day conference on Community-based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR).

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Tripura Government organized the conference jointly, which was attended by representatives from the government, engineers, army, paramilitary, police personnel, students, teachers and NGOs.

Nine killed in road mishap in Tripura

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Nov 15 : At least nine people died and 30 critically injured following a road traffic accident on the national high 44 on Saturday in Tripura.

The incident occurred at around 12 p. m. when three vehicles had a head-on collided at a tri-junction near Gakulnagar, 17 kilometre south from here.

The incident happened when two jeeps had a head-on collision and another speeding jeep coming from the back banged the two jeeps.
