Rajnath Singh says Bangla HuJI with ISI links responsible for Tripura blastsAgartala, Oct 4 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh on Saturday claimed that Bangladeshi Muslim fundamentalist (HuJI-B) supported by ISI are involved in recent serial blast in Agartala.

He was on a days’ visit to the State during which he visited the injured of the blasts at G. B. Panth hospital. He also went to some of the blast sites to take note from the eyewitnesses.

Tripura welcomes traveling film festival

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Oct 4 : Militancy hasn’t deterred the masses of Tripura to work for social causes, for the people of the State overwhelmingly welcomed the ''traveling film festival'', which was on its three day stint in Agartala, the state''s capital.

The film festival is on a five month journey, to raise awareness about environment and wildlife.

The traveling film festival was organized by Centre of Media Studies, a non-governmental organization.

Explosives with mobile phone trigger used in Agartala blast: Tripura Police

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Oct 3 : The Tripura Police on Friday said that highly explosive devices and a mobile phone were used to trigger Wednesday''s low intensity bomb blasts in Agartala.

Deputy Inspector General (Police Control) Nepal Das said, “Samples collected from the blast sites by a team of the National Security Guard (NSG) from Delhi along with forensic experts from Kolkata have prima facie revealed that the explosives used were of most recent vintage.”

Das said the terrorists used a mobile phone as a timer device and batteries of nine volts, which enabled the serial blasts to take place within a short span of time.

Tripura’s Jirania block registers 97 per cent literacy rateAgartala, Oct 2 : Terror struck Agartala, the capital of Tripura on Wednesday evening when five bombs went off within 30 minutes in crowded market places and a bus stand.

Two persons were confirmed dead and about 76 injured in the five blasts of which at least two of the blasts were powerful.

The injured were taken to the nearby hospital. According to sources in the hospital some of the injured are in critical condition.

One killed, 50 injured in serial blasts in north-eastern India

New Delhi - One person was killed and 50 injured in serial bomb blasts in Agartala, capital of the north-eastern Indian state of Tripura on Wednesday, news reports said.

Four blasts occurred in the space of about 45 minutes in busy areas of the city, including markets and bus stops within a two-kilometre radius, Times Now television reported.

All the blasts were of low intensity, local police official Shreeyash (Eds: one name only) was quoted as saying. He said a fifth bomb had been found and defused.

All the injured had been taken to hospital. Twenty of them were in critical condition, reports said.
