Shiromani Akali Dal to vote against UPA Government

BJP-SADChandigarh, July 15 : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will vote against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government during the floor test in Parliament.

Speaking during a press conference here, Punjab Chief Minister and SAD leader, Prakash Singh Badal said that the Central Government has not informed SAD on the India- US civil nuclear deal and never discussed this issue with Punjab government at any level.

He said that SAD is united on this issue and there is no need to issue any whip to party''s MPs regarding this.

Foundation stone laid for 16 projects in Amritsar

Punjab CM Rules Out Fresh Taxes To Improve State’s Economy

Chandigarh: Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh BadalToeing a different line to its ally, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) rejected infliction of new taxes in its bid to activate supplementary resources.

Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab Chief Minister said, “Our government will not put additional burden on the people of the state in the garb of raising additional resources.”

The CM said that his administration was considering waiving off the stamp tax entirely. In the initial budget of the government this year, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh had declared cut of stamp tax from 5-6%.

Congress MLAs’ Suspension Averted By Badal

The suspensionCongress of Cong MLAs for uncivil behaviour in the house was averted by the intervention of the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Behaving in the most irresponsible manner, the Congress legislators created a commotion by uncivilly beating “thalis” (steel plates) with spoons to protest the “failure” of the Government to implement a scheme to provide subsidized food to the people. This compelled Speaker N.S. Kahlon to adjourn the House for an hour.

Minister Tikshan Sud brought forth a resolution seeking the suspension of the Congress legislators, when the House reassembled.
