Younis-KhanKarachi, Sep 25 - Veteran batsman Younis Khan failed to find a spot in the ODI team as Pakistan announced the squads for the upcoming one-day and Twenty20 series with Australia.

The Pakistan- Australia series, comprising one T20 and three ODI matches, is scheduled to kick off on October 5 in the United Arab Emirates .

Chief selector Moin Khan announced the ODI squad for Pakistan on Wednesday and Younis was not named as part of the team. The squads were initially going to be announced on Tuesday but had to be postponed for a day in light of the disagreement over the veteran batsman's inclusion in the ODI squad.

Younis likely to return in ODI series against Australia

Karachi, Dec 18 : Former Pakistan skipper Younis Khan is likely to make a comeback in the one-day series against Australia which begins in Brisbane from January 22.

Younis, 32, decided to opt out of the Test tour of New Zealand last month after leading Pakistan to a 1-2 one-day series defeat against the Kiwis in Abu Dhabi. He also made himself unavailable for the tour of Australia which got underway Friday as he wanted a break from the international cricket.

"I will definitely play for my country again as it is always an honour to play in national colours," Younis told reporters at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore Friday.

Out of the blue, Younis turned up at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore to attend a National Level 1 coaching course that is being conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for aspiring coaches.

According to sources, Younis expressed his interest in attending the coaching course after which the PCB gave its green signal.

Khan, however, declined to comment on queries whether he would return to the team as captain, saying: “ It would be decided in due course of time.”

Younis KhanKarachi, Nov 16 Pakistani selectors are yet to take a decision on sending middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq as a replacement for Younis Khan for the Test series in New Zealand from Nov 24.

Chief selector Iqbal Qasim told IANS Monday that the selection committee will take a decision on the issue after discussing it with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaj Butt. Butt is currently in England and will return home Nov 20.

"Once the chairman returns home we will discuss the matter with him before deciding on naming a replacement for Younis Khan," said Qasim, a former Pakistan Test spinner.

The former ICL player Imran Farhat, Mohammad Asif, Abdul Razzaq, Salman Butt and Khalid Latif are included in the squad while Misbah-ul-Haq has been rested for the series.

Farhat had not played any test match from 2007 as he was banned from the international cricket after joining the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL). Farhat has now ended his contract with ICL, as a result he is set to make comeback in the international cricket.

Chief selector Iqbal Qasim said the committee has already consulted coach Intikhab Alam and vice-captain Shahid Afridi regarding the team for the UAE series.

Qasim said the selectors would meet Khan soon and thereafter decide the final 15 for the three match series.
