Pak will rely heavily on captain Younus Khan in UAE series: Alam

Pak will rely heavily on captain Younus Khan in UAE series: AlamKarachi, Apr. 13 : Pakistan cricket team coach Intikhab Alam is banking upon captain Younus Khan to succeed against Australia in the forthcoming UAE series.

"For me, Younus will be our key man. He is such a positive man, a true leader who has injected a much-needed team spirit among the boys," Alam said referring to Khan's forecast of a five-nil Australian white wash in the series.

Alam said the middle order batsman was the mainstay of team's batting line-up, and hoped he would lead by example in the five match series starting April 22.

When asked to comment on the pressure on Khan to perform and lead the side too, Alam said the captain was a cool customer in the hardest of circumstances.

"He is not the sort of man who will crumble under pressure. The point is that he doesn''t come under pressure whatever the circumstances. That''s one of his most precious qualities," The News quoted Alam, as saying.

He expressed hope that other senior players in the team such as Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar would also carry out their responsibilities accordingly.

"Afridi is still a match-winner, and Akhtar, too, can work wonders on his day," he added. (ANI)
