Priyanka-GandhiAmethi (Uttar Pradesh), April 15 : Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Tuesday slammed estranged cousin Varun Gandhi for the second time in three days, criticising him for siding with the BJP, and "betraying the family".

Talking to reporters in Amethi, Priyanka accused the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency of "betraying the family".

Her remarks came hours after Varun Gandhi gave a warning that his silence should not be construed as weakness.

Gandhi was addressing a meeting at the Sur Sadan auditorium here with party workers who were denied permission to hold a rally two weeks ago in the Jat-dominated Akola, 30 km from the Agra.

"Mayawati's over-confidence and pride brought her down. Now Akhilesh is repeating her mistakes," he said.

Varun was to address the party workers at the Shikarpur area in Bulandshahr district, some 400 km from Lucknow.

"We have denied permission for the BJP meeting on grounds of law and order," Senior Superintendent of Police Nilesh Kumar told IANS on telephone.

UP Government's decision came hours after the Supreme Court ordered the State Government to revoke the NSA against Varun Gandhi.

Varun was arrested under the NSA on March 29.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court revoked the NSA invoked against Varun Gandhi for making an alleged ''hate-speech'' in Pilibhit.
