New Delhi, Apr 11 : The Uttar Pradesh government and the Pilibhit District Magistrate on Saturday responded to the Supreme Court''s notice seeking to know the basis for invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi.
The state government, in its 35-page response to the apex court has denied Varun Gandhi''s charge that he was booked under the NSA due to a political conspiracy.
Patna, Apr 7 : A case has been lodged against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for making derogatory remarks against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi.
The Kishanganj District administration filed its complaint against Lalu Yadav under the People''s Representation Act this morning.
New Delhi, Apr 4 : Congress leader and Union Minister Kapil Sibal on Saturday said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi was a victim of nexus between the saffron party and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
"I think this is a political game of the BJP and the BSP. They have a nexus; BJP wants to benefit itself from Hindutva. On the other hand, the BSP wants division in the minority vote," Sibal told reporters here.

Etah, Apr 2 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday alleged that Varun Gandhi had been harassed and tortured in the jail.
"Varun Gandhi was kept in a small cell, where he could not see anyone. Inhuman treatment was meted out to him. He was harassed and tortured," Naidu told reporters after meeting Varun in Etah District jail here.
The BJP leader claimed that Varun was implicated under a conspiracy of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress.
