US says Sharif brothers’ disqualification Pak’s “internal matter” Lahore, Feb. 26 : The United States has refused to comment on the Pakistan Supreme Court's decision to disqualify former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif form contesting elections, saying it is Pakistan's `internal matter'.

According to The Daily Times, a statement issued by the US State Department said: "The disqualification was an internal matter and Washington would not comment on it."

Shahbaz said that PML-N would not accept judges who flourished under a dictator's umbrella.

He threatened to launch a public struggle if he was disqualified, The Nation reported.

PML-N not in favour of breaking alliance with PPP

Karachi, July 5 : PML-N president and Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has reportedly denied rumors of a breakup with the PPP over the restoration of the non-PCO judges.

He said the breakup of the alliance would mean once again strengthening the dictatorship in the country.

“If the alliance is broken on the judges’ issue, it would be supportive of the dictatorship. It would not be wise for us to fight each other on the issue,” the Daily Times quoted Sharif as saying at a press conference.

Sharif accepted that there were dissimilarities between the two parties on some issues but those differences are not between two enemies but between “family members”.
