New Delhi, Nov 10 : President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate the National Education Day here tomorrow.
National Education Day is observed in tribute to eminent freedom fighter and educationalist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Azad was also India''s first Minister for Education.
Institutions of educational would be involved in seminars, symposia, workshops, rallies on importance of literacy and in promoting the nation''s commitment to all aspects of education.
New Delhi, Nov 5: President Pratibha Patil today congratulated Senator Barack Obama on his election as the next President of the United States of America.
In her message, the President said, "Excellency, please accept my heartiest congratulations on your election as the next President of the United States of America.
"The people of India, who have closely followed the U. S. election process with unprecedented interest, see your election as a historic mandate of the people of the United States of America," she added.
Thimphu (Bhutan), Nov 05: President Pratibha Patil, who is on a four-day visit to Bhutan to attend the coronation ceremony of Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, was accorded guard of honour and given a colourful reception at the Paro Airport on her arrival today.
Present King Jigme Singye Wangchuk and Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Thinley received President Patil at the airport.
The new king, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, will meet President Patil at hotel Taj Tashi in Thimphu.
New Delhi, Nov 05: President Pratibha Patil today left for Thimphu on a four-day visit to attend the coronation ceremony of Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk, the fifth King of Bhutan.
President Patil would be the guest of honour during the coronation ceremony, which starts from November 6.
Present King Jigme Singye Wangchuk and Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Thinley would receive President Patil at Paro airbase.
