President Patil in Vietnam to strengthen “Look East" policy

Pratibha PatilHo Chi Minh City (Vietnam),Nov. 24 : To strengthen and further enhance India’s bilateral ties with South East Asian countries, the Indian President, Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, reached Vietnam on Monday on the first leg of her ten-day tour to Vietnam and Indonesia.

The President’s visit to these countries is being seen as part of an effort to give a fresh impetus to India''s "Look East" policy.

Pratibha PatilNew Delhi, Nov 24 : President Pratibha Patil today left on a 10-day visit to Vietnam and Indonesia to expand India''s bilateral relations.

The high-level visit is expected to give a fresh impetus to bilateral relations encompassing political, economic and cultural ties.

During her four-day stay in Vietnam, Patil will have meetings with her Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Minh Triet and the Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The President would attend a business meeting being organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Vietnam Chambers of Commerce.

New Delhi, Nov 23: President Pratibha Devisingh Patil leaves on a 10-day visit to Vietnam and Indonesia on Monday to expand bilateral ties with ASEAN neighbours.

President Patil’s high high-level visit is expected to give a fresh impetus to bilateral relations covering areas like political, economic and cultural ties with these countries.

“This visit essentially reaffirms India’s commitment to enhance our engagement with these countries, our close friends within ASEAN fraternity. It is part of our ‘Look East’ policy initiative,” said N Ravi, Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs.

President Pratibha PatilPresident Pratibha Patil is scheduled to visit Vietnam and Indonesia next week. The visit aims to enhance bilateral ties with those two countries.

During her 10 day visit President Patil will hold extensive talks with the leaders of Vietnam and Indonesia which have seen impressive growth rates.

 "This visit essentially reaffirms India commitment to enhance our engagement with these countries, our close friends within ASEAN fraternity. It is part of our Look East policy initiative," Secretary (East) N Ravi said at New Delhi.

Turkish PM meets President Patil

TurkeyNew Delhi, Nov 21 : Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who arrived on a five day visit to India to enhance bilateral ties met President Pratibha Patil here today.

Talking to media after his ceremonial reception at President House this morning, Erdogan said that the two countries have come closer and deeper during the last five years to further their commercial and cultural ties.

Erdogan is accompanied by a high level delegation including three ministers as well as lawmakers and business leaders.
