New Delhi, Nov 19 : President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on Wednesday released a special commemorative postage stamp on GAIL to mark the Silver Jubilee Year of the company.

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora, Minister of Communications and IT A. Raja, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinsha Patel, Petroleum Secretary R. S. Pandey and CMD GAIL U. D. Choubey were present on the occasion along with other senior officers of the Petroleum Ministry and GAIL.

New Delhi, Nov. 18 : Joseph Caron has assumed charge as Canada''s new High Commissioner to India. High Commissioner Caron presented his credentials to President Pratibha Patil on November 10. He will present his credentials as Canada’s Ambassador to Nepal on November 21 in Kathmandu.

On the occasion of the presentation, Caron stated, “I am pleased to see the strength of the bilateral relationship and the people-to-people ties arising from our history of immigration, and welcome future cooperation between Canada and India. It is in this spirit that I officially undertake my role as Canada’s High Commissioner to India.”

Guwahati, Nov. 13 (ANI): People in Assam became aware of many educational and social projects during the visit of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil.

President Patil during her five-day visit inaugurated several infrastructural and developmental projects in the region.

In the first leg of her visit, President Patil was in Assam. She laid foundation stone of the Tezpur Medical College. Just a few months ago Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had inaugurated the Jorhat Medical College.

New Delhi, Nov 12: President Pratibha Patil greeted the nation on the occassion of Guru Nanak Jayanti which is being celebrated tomorrow.

In a message, the President said, “On the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Guru Nanak Devji, I convey my heartiest greetings to all my fellow citizens.

New Delhi, Nov 11 : President Pratibha Patil today said the education system should have the dynamism to be able to constantly adjust to the rapid changes.

Addressing at the First National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of eminent freedom fighter and educationalist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Patil said that the real challenge before education system is to create a human resource that can take advantage of new opportunities and face new challenges.

The envoys who presented their credentials were: Zady Gbaka Richard, the Ambassador of Cote d''Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Joseph Caron, the High Commissioner of Canada, Roberto Toscano, the Ambassador of Italy, Francisco L. Benedicto, the Ambassador of the Philippines and Kenneth Thompson, the Ambassador of Ireland.
