Education system should adjust to rapid changes: Patil
New Delhi, Nov 11 : President Pratibha Patil today said the education system should have the dynamism to be able to constantly adjust to the rapid changes.
Addressing at the First National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of eminent freedom fighter and educationalist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Patil said that the real challenge before education system is to create a human resource that can take advantage of new opportunities and face new challenges.
“Education should be a process that imparts knowledge, develops the personality of the invidual and opens up new opportunities,” she added.
While recalling the contribution of Maulana Azad, Patil said that it is important that every citizen of the country must have the opportunity to receive the education.
She said the country has taken an important step forward in providing education to all children in the age group of six to 14.
Patil further said that the purpose of celebrating National Education Day should be to strengthen the educational institutions and raise the quality of education to greater heights.
President also released a special cover on Maulana Azad and a set of books published by National Book Trust of India on him.
Institutions of educational has been involved in seminars, symposia, workshops, rallies on importance of literacy and in promoting the nation''s commitment to all aspects of education.
Similar functions are organized in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and West Bengal. (ANI)
