President arrives in Bali

President Pratibha PatilPresident Pratibha Patil arrived in Bali on Friday on a five-day visit to Indonesia.

Her visit aims to enhance ties with Indonesia, a key member of the regional ASEAN grouping.

Patil arrived to a warm welcome in Bali on the final leg of her two-nation trip, which earlier took her to Vietnam, to give a momentum to India's 'Look East' policy initiative to enhance ties with its ASEAN neighbours.
 
During her stay in Bali, Patil would hold talks with her counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on a wide range of issues encompassing political, economic and cultural ties.

Patil arrived at Bali''s Ngurah Rai International Airport on Friday, the first day of her five-day state visit to Indonesia. Me Mangku Pastika, the Governor of Bali received her.

Indonesia is one of an important country of ASIAN with India has historical ties.

She said the treasures preserved here, provided a deep insight into the history of Vietnam.

India seeks enhanced economic co-operation with Vietnam

President Pratibha PatilPresident Pratibha Patil has favored enhanced economic cooperation between India and Vietnam through "walking together". She also called for linking their commercial hubs Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City as "sister cities".

"As our two nations stood by each other in the past, and as we stand now at the threshold of prosperity, it would be our endeavour to walk together, hand-in-hand, for future cooperation," Patil said at a dinner in Ho-chi-Minnh city.

The dinner was hosted in her honour by Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Le Hoang Quan.
