Rahul treats Miliband with experience of dynamic rural IndiaNarayanpur (UP), Jan 15 : The visiting Britain''s Foreign Secretary, David Miliband along with Congress party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, visited Amethi on Wednesday for a first-hand experience of progressive rural India.

Both the leaders have undertaken a two-day visit to Amethi during which they interacted with the people of Narayanpur and Asadiyapur villages.

Miliband''s eleven-member delegation also accompanied the two leaders during their visit.

Pakistan need not extradite Mumbai culprits to India, Britain says

PakistanNew Delhi - Britain's Foreign Secretary David Miliband said the Mumbai attack suspects should be prosecuted and tried in Pakistan and not handed over to India, media reports said Wednesday.

Miliband, who is in India on a three-day visit, differed from New Delhi's demand that Pakistan extradite accused perpetrators of the attacks to stand trial in India.

Relations between the nuclear-armed neighbours have deteriorated rapidly since the November 26 attacks left 173 people including 26 foreign nationals dead.

Earlier, Miliband had expressed his desire to see the rural developmental activities in India during a meeting with Rahul Gandhi some time ago in the United Kingdom.

Rahul had invited him to visit Amethi where several schemes pertaining to cooperatives, self-help groups and healthcare have been launched in the recent years.

David MilibandNew Delhi, Jan. 13 : Mounting pressure on Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks to book, Britain on Tuesday said that Islamabad has to crackdown on various terrorist groups operating from its soil.

"It is clear that the attacks originated from Pakistan, and Islamabad has to crack down on the militant outfits operating on its soil, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) which has been blamed for the Mumbai attacks," Britain Foreign Secretary David Miliband said here today.
